Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT)

LDT is a gentle manual treatment which improves the activity of lymph vessels. LDT re-routes the lymph flow around blocked areas into more centrally located lymph vessels or gently clears congestion of the lymph vessels and nodes. Pressure is light and contact is superficial as contact is with the skin and not the muscle.

Some of the benefits of LDT include reduced lymphoedemas, reduction in pain, induced restful sleep, increased relaxation, reduction of high blood pressure, stimulation of the immune system, increased bowels and bladder movements, regulation of menstruation due to possible hormonal balance, reduction of acne, decrease in pain for conditions involving joint inflammation such as MS and arthritis, recovery after colds, flu, bronchitis and asthma, improved sinus conditions.

Some of the indications for LDT include stimulation of the lymphatic system, Lymphoedemas – primary & secondary, Oedema during pregnancy, fluid retention, scar tissue, post surgical (Mastectomy or cosmetic), after glandular fever, sports injuries, some neurological disorders such as MS, migraine, headaches and trigeminal neuralgia, arthritis & rheumatism, constipation & digestive disorders, sinusitis & hay fever, Hormonal imbalances (teenagers, menstrual conditions, menopause), recurring infections such as colds, flu, ear or chest, as well as for general health and well-being.

LDT is the perfect accompaniment to a Detoxification treatment as it allows the release and elimination of toxins from the lymph vessels and out of the body through the bladder.

LDT of the face (1/4 hr ADD ON) is also an excellent treatment for sinus congestion, hayfever, sinusitis and headaches combined with ear candling.

Adding Bioptron Light Therapy to your treatment will further stimulate the lymphatic system making the treatment more effective especially where there is increased fluid retention and pressure build up. This add on can be used on any part of the body.

Compression Bandaging for Lymphoedema is also available as part of LDT. It is performed at the conclusion of LDT and is part of the LDT treatment time. The fee is according to the total treatment time taken. The cost of the bandages and compression garments is additional.
